Pokémon Duel is a game released for smartphones in 2016. It is a board game based upon the Pokémon Trading Figure Game that was released in 2006 and later discontinued in 2009. Within the game, you are over time awarded Pokémon figures that you can use to create a team of six Pokémon. Each Pokémon figure has different moves and abilities that you can utilize to create your own strategy. Much like Chess, you knock out your opponents figures in order to advance further towards their side of the board. To win against your opponent in Pokemon duel you have to either reach the goal on their side of the board or to prevent them from being able to make a move.
Figures are rewarded randomly from opening booster packs or by exchanging one Pokémon at a time for an in-game currency called materials.
Within the game, you can either play against the AI, your friends or rank up in League matches against other people. You can also participate in Pokémon Cups that are held once a month and probably much more in the future.
Plates are one of the important mechanics in Pokémon Duel. Plates grant the player or Figues a special power during the duel to turn the tables into their favor. These can range from a plate that increases one of the Pokémon's attack by 30 points to removing all of the special conditions from one Pokémon. Only one plate can be used on your turn and each plate can only be used once per duel. Each plate has its own cost which determines how many plates each player can put into the deck. The cost of all of the plates cannot exceed more than 6. You can obtain Plates from Boosters and depending on the booster you purchase, you will receive a fixed amount of Plates at random. You can also purchase desired plate at the shop using Gems. The price for each plate depends on its rarity.
